
With just a dozen active members, many of them in their 70s and 80s, the Greater Tri-Town Area Historical Society faces a challenge shared by many community organizations across rural America.
Who will carry the torch next?
For society president Nicole Anderson, the answer lies in finding creative ways to connect younger generations with local history while demonstrating that preserving the past can be both engaging and relevant.
“It’s very important,” Anderson said. “We’re worried. We have a great group right now. We’re always looking for more people to join. But we’re very concerned about what will happen in 10 years.”
